Doctors For Iraq depends on public donations to carry out our vital medical humanitarian and right to health work across Iraq. Alongside providing medical and humanitarian aid Doctors For iraq is a campaigning organisation advocating on health issues in Iraq. We also work to provide doctors and health workers with medical training and support.

For the past three years Doctors For Iraq has been providing medical aid to displaced and vulnerable people in the worst conflict areas in the country . The continuing conflict in Iraq has had a devastating impact on the health system with hospitals and clinics lacking basic medicine and medical equipment. Doctors, medical staff and patients are frequently threatened and attacked whilst trying to carry out their work as doctors or trying to access healthcare.

We have 250 members, Christian, Muslim, Sunni and Shai all working as volunteer doctors to assist Iraqi’s in need. We are doctors and medical workers striving to uphold the principles of our profession and treat any humanbeing who is need of medical assistance.

In 2005/ 2006 Doctors For Iraq has undertaken a number of important projects including:
Sending medical teams to provide humanitarian aid to vulnerable people and internally displaced groups in the country. We have started work on rehabilitating parts of Haditha Hospital in the West of Iraq that was destroyed during a military attack in the area in 2005. We are working on providing clean drinking water for displaced communities. Providing public health information on the potential threat of bird flu and advocating on public health issues in Iraq.

Advocating on the Right to Health for all Iraqis regardless of religious or political background. Advocating on the right of Iraqi prisoners to access adequate healthcare, working on a project to provide prosthetic limbs to children who were forced to have their limbs amputated because of the war.

Doctors for Iraq works with local Iraqi communities, grassroots organisations and International partners to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to people and communities in need across Iraq.

All our work depends on donations form the public and we need your help to continue with our work.
